Red Tail Boa . . .

Ace's Reptile Emporium received a red tail boa on 10/24/17. The boa had exposed bones, muscles, and tissue in several places that were caused by rat bites. The owner of the boa had left a rat in the cage to encourage the snake to eat. When the owner of the boa checked on the snake, it had several bites varying in size along its spine and back. The owner immediately contacted Ace's Reptile Emporium, and they brought the snake to them immediately.
Ace's Reptile Emporium began soaking the snake in water and chlorahexadine solution mix to help clean the wounds and kept the snake warm and dry. The snake was brought to St. Francis Animal Hospital on 10/25/17 to begin HBOT treatments.
First Treatment - 10/25/17 The red tail boa was treated in the HBOT Chamber for 45 min with a setting of 2 ATA. The deeper wounds immediately showed signs of skin re-growth and the muscle tissue started to change colors.
Second Treatment -11/01/17 The red tail boa was treated in the HBOT Chamber for 45 min with a setting of 2 ATA. The deeper wounds became shallow and the muscles were covered by skin layers.

Third Treatment - 11/08/17 The red tail boa was treated in HBOT Chamber for 45 min with a setting of 2 ATA. The wounds were almost completely closed and most surface skin layers had fully regenerated.
UPDATE - 12/28/17 The red tail boa continues to heal well and shows continued signs of healing. Ace's Reptile Emporium will continue to monitor and care for the snake until he can be re-united with his owner.
