HOW HBOT WORKS

The word comes from Greek, where “hyper” means and “baric” means —literally, . Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses this increased pressure to deliver much higher amounts of oxygen throughout the body. Inside the chamber, a patient breathes nearly 100% oxygen at pressures greater than normal atmospheric levels. This allows oxygen to dissolve not only into red blood cells, but also directly into the blood plasma and other body fluids, reaching three to four times farther into injured or compromised tissues than oxygen normally can.

Simply breathing pure oxygen in room air does not provide this therapeutic effect, but under pressure, oxygen delivery is dramatically amplified. For example, at 2.0 atmospheres of pressure, oxygen levels in the tissues can rise to more than 20 times what is achieved by breathing normal air. This surplus oxygen fuels critical healing processes: it reduces swelling, stimulates new blood vessel growth, fights infection, and accelerates recovery of wounds, bones, organs, and even the brain.

That’s the power of hyperbaric oxygen therapy—helping animals heal faster, safer, and more completely.
