Midnight . . .
Case Study submitted by Andrew Turkell, DVM, CVA, CCRT
Calusa Veterinary Center - Boca Raton, FL.
Midnight, a Labrador mix found in Miami, suffered severe burns possibly from acid that ran from the top of her head to the tip of her tail in a path that was 6 inches to 8 inches wide.
The shelter that Midnight arrived at intended on ending her pain by euthanizing, however Dr. Andrew Turkell at Calusa Veterinary Center in Boca Raton agreed to tackle Midnight’s case using the center’s veterinary hyperbaric chamber.
After operating to remove the scabbing, Midnight was treated in the chamber for a period of 2 months. After 35 total treatments, Midnight had been completely healed with minimal scaring, maintained an energetic and playful demeanor and was even able to be adopted by new owners just days after her last treatment.
