Prometheus . . .
Case Study submitted by Susan Shelton, DVM and Angela Scott, CVT - Saint Francis Animal Hospital - Jacksonville, FL.
Prometheus, a domestic short hair, was brought into Bradford County Animal Care & Control by an animal and control officer in Starke, FL. A good Samaritan called to say there was a kitten hanging by his neck from a tree. We sent a transporter out to Bradford Animal Care and Control to pick up 7 kittens and an adult cat that were deemed for euthanasia due to overcrowding in the shelter. When the ACO pulled up, the transporter asked what he had in his van. Prometheus got lucky that the transporter asked what was is in the van. They were taking him to be be euthanized due to his condition.
Prometheus weighed 1 lb when he came into Saint Francis. The first photo is on June 13th when he was brought into the hospital. Then 2nd photo is from June 14th after three HBOT treatments. The 3rd photo is from June 18th after 4 treatments. The 4th photo is from June 29th. The 5th photo is from July 10th almost 100% healed as he explores the tub.
We did give him pain medication by mouth the first 2 days and a course of Clavamox for 10 days.
